Fishing Report - Week of June 21/2014
Walleye are being caught on the lake trolling #4 Salmo Hornets around Black Wolf Point and Stoney Beach. Color patterns like Bloody Shiner, Dalmatian, and Funky Brown continue to be top producers. In addition to main lake points walleyes are being caught " In the mud" which is about 80% of main lake basin. A good starting point would be out in front of Garlic Island and the mouth of the river in Oshkosh. #7 Flicker shads and crawler harnesses are the ticket to catching these suspended fish.
The bass fishing has also been great on the lake. Both the smallmouth and the Largemouth should be shallow in 2-6 F.O.W. Get Bit 3 1/2" tubes in green pumpkin and dark melon have been working well. Target main lake points and weed edges for both species of bass.
Lake Winneconne and Lake Butte Des Mortes continue to produce good numbers of walleye in the 13″ to 18″ range. Like Lake Winnebago target walleyes with a slip bobber leech combo in 4-10 F.O.W. Also 1/4 0z jig and leech combinations have been working well.
